For the record

I have just transferred my LJ posts here using LJ-Sec. So all the 800-odd posts that have just popped up here please ignore, as you will have seen them all before!

Home again, home again, jigetty-jig

1. I'm glad that was over. The service was beautiful, but because of that, very heavy on the tissues. Still, all of us getting together and sharing memories afterwards was extremely cathartic for everyone - if very heavy on the tissues *grin*
2. MrRuby and the kids were fine. Although I did wonder, as just before I went Smallest Ruby was literally clinging to my leg, sobbing his heart out, 'Don't go, Mummy! Dooooon't GOOOOOOOO!' And then he rummaged in the cupboard for his shoes and tried frantically to put them on, wailing, 'I come too!' I nearly didn't go.
3. On the way home we passed a van. An Amari plastics van. Only, of course, I didn't read it as 'Amari'. No. I nearly gave myself a whiplash.
4. Read this month's Calcio Italia in the car. Mmmmmm, Tiago Mendes.
5. DH came up, and Mum and Dad pretended they knew what they were talking about. Although I nearly choked on my Martini when Mum started talking about, 'those people that write stories continuing the books themselves'. WTF MY MUM TALKING ABOUT FANFIC? *dies*
6. WTFLJ? Not a-frigging-gain? *sighs* I go away for a couple of days and it starts eating itself again. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for an official word this time? Also, the last time I went to Mum's, this happened. Maybe I shouldn't have gone!
7. There is no seven.
8. Flist has been caught up with, but not commented on much. Sorry. I'll be about sporadically the next few days, until Mum goes home.
9. That will be all.
10. Thank you and goodnight.

Interview meme and layout pimpage

I signed up for five questions from [info]bannali (the LJ user formerly known as [info]forzagila_11!), and these are what I got:

1. Who would you marry first: Paolo, Billy or Sandro?
2. How/when did you start liking Milan?
3. Same as above, but Palermo instead.
4. Have you ever liked any English teams?
5. What is your favorite Nek song?

Answers, for those of you who are interested )

If you want me to interview you, leave me a comment!

In other news, I have been playing around with layouts again. Mostly because I loved [info]potterpuffs Resurrection Stone scene, but also because I just wanted to play around with CSS to extend my understanding of what different bits do what.

Anyway. Both [info]blackmoonruby and [info]rubicons have had a makeover. And I've done them both myself. I am particularly pleased with the [info]rubicons one - so please do feel free to tell me how splendid I am! *grin*

Questions

1. It's Grandad's funeral on Thursday. Nan has made a point of telling us not to worry about wearing all black. I bought some gorgeous new shoes today.

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Would it be taking the piss to wear them, so you think? I was planning on wearing a fairly plain black top and some slate grey wool trousers.

2. The original Pazza Inter Amala video? Who's the bloke with the Gomez Addams moustache? You first see him with Zanetti during the second bridge. Only, when I'm laughing like a drain at someone, I prefer to know who they are *wink*

3. Has anyone seen my muse? She seems to have buggered off somewhere.

4. The Florida thing. This may sound like a stupid question, but how close is Kissimee to Disney? We have been looking at villas on Expedia, and they all seem to be located there. Obviously they're all self-catering - so what are the nearby food shopping/eating out opportunities? Yes, I know we can ask a travel agent about this, but we haven't had chance to get to one yet. As we don't want the kids to know what we're planning yet, or we'll never hear the end of it.

Thank you all!

'Cause I'm a glutton for punishment

And nosy to boot. [info]review is hosting a 'First Impressions' meme, which pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin.

If you want to share your first impression of me, you can do so here. Anonymous commenting is enabled, so you can be as honest as you like...

ETA: If the comments there max out please feel free to leave me your first impression here. You can be anonymous here, too, and comments are screened.

On the off-chance

I don't suppose that anyone (other than maybe [info]mauvaise_etoile) will be interested, but I've been playing Girls, Girls, Girls a lot recently, and was inspired to make a few Mötley Crüe icons.

(More this way)

Icon meme

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List each one in your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance it has....

Here are mine )

Oh, sweet Baby Jesus!

I think my ovaries have just exploded from teh pretteh.

Bring a mop, ladies: it could prove messy )

Ahem. And there are more of him (and his pretty friends) over here

Musical picture meme - The Answers!

I know there were one or two of you who were curious as to the identity of some of the unguessed pics, so to put you out of your misery, here are the answers!

*drum roll* )

Approaching Contentment

Having 'solved' my issues with JKR's treatment of Remus in DH, I have now been soothed over her treatment of Severus too.

While, as I have said, the way 'things' happen to him (*makes last-ditch attempt to avoid spoiling folk*) is sufficiently ambigous to appease both the Snape lovers and the Snape haters; personally, I needed more.

And [info]rexluscus has provided it right here. (Obviously, contains spoilers.)

I make no attempt to hide the fact that I am pro-Snape, and reading this I feel far more reconciled than I did before. It wraps up his storyline beautifully, and I found it soothing and uplifting. Also, this article helps, too.

Snape haters? Can read it or not, as you choose. I'm not banging any drums here *grin*

Yes, I am delusional

...but it's my journal, so I can dream all I like, right?

Disclaimer: Yes, I know. I am imagining the whole thing. But let me be, OK, 'cause it helps me to deal with it this way. I mean no offence.

Cut, in case there's anyone who hasn't read DH yet (and Remus/Tonks shippers may want to ignore this altogether )

A pair of Pretties

Last week I introduced [info]pint_of_shame to the delights of Ciro Capuano, and teased [info]andolinn with Patrik Berger (sadly, not literally :( )

Never one to renege on a promise (although always one to take an inordinately long time over delivering *grin*) I am proud to present two not-so-minispams of these delightful specimens of footballing yumminess.

Patrik, for Andolinn )

Ciro, for Megan )

Yet another musical meme

...only this one has pictures. Gakked from [info]nikki1804.

Here's how it works:
1. Open your Winamp/iTunes.
2. Put the shuffle-mode on.
3. Find a picture of the first 20 artists. If the same artist comes again, skip.
4. Have your friends guess who the artists are.

There may have been a teensy bit of cheating going on - have you any idea how tricky it is to find a picture of Menswear? I kept getting Marks and Frigging Spencer's! *grin* So, yeah. #20 is there because pretty Johnny Dean proved too elusive.

There are some shockers, I warn you )

Jul. 23rd, 2007

So, how did I do?

Still no fecking power cable. Dell are assuring me it was dispatched on Friday, and that I will get it by tomorrow, so we shall see. In the meantime, while MrRuby's at work, I get to use the PC, so I am able to do this:

Spoilery-spoilery, just in case )

Jul. 22nd, 2007

Blimey!

Still no power cable, so no time for comments and stuff, I'm afraid - just popping by for a squee for 'Nando!

What a great race it was, so full of - well, stuff! Lewis put in a stirling drive, what with all his mishaps, but (and more importantly), 'Nando was better. So there.

Small squee for Winklehock, leading (and re-starting!) the race on his F1 debut, immense snarfle at Schumacher's face as he had to present the constructor's trophy to Ron, but my favourite moment? Parc fermé, when 'Nando beckoned to the cameraman then shook his head and wagged his finger at the tyremark on his sidepod. (Plus, the pointy-jabby handbags behind the podium were full of hilarity, too.)

Jul. 21st, 2007

Oh! OH! {slightly spoilery}

I'm done. There will very likely be more coherent thoughts later, when I have assimilated it all, but for now, all I have to say is

This... )

Jul. 20th, 2007

OK, so I lied

But this was too delightful not to post. It was the last day of the school year today, so my last day with my class. I got them all a little present (only a bag of sweets, a notepad and a gel pen, I mean - come on, I'm only on a teacher's salary *grin*). While almost every single member of the class immediately opened the sweets and started scoffing, one of my pint-sized slashers (remember them?) had other ideas.

Yes. My last image of him? Was of him fellating his gel pen.

I'm going to miss them so much!

See you on the other side!

I'm re-reading HBP in preparation for tomorrow (OMG! IT'S TOMORROW!) and a couple of things occurred to me:

What actually happens to your body when you use a pensieve. Does it disappear? Or are your legs still there? I just had this rather amusing mental image of someone coming into Dumbledore's office while he and Harry are off on their pensieve-travels and finding two arses in the air while the top halves of the bodies were dunked inside the pensieve... So is your whole body sucked into it? How big is the damn thing, then?

And how the hell come Harry didn't recognise the HBP's writing as Snape's? I can't belive he wouldn't have had sarcastic comments scrawled liberally over all the any of the written work he'd submitted, so how come it rang no bells?

Anyway. Probably won't be around now until it's all done. So please forgive any non-commenting on my part - it's not 'cause I don't love you I just love Remus more. And the non-HP fen on my flist? Please feel free to link me to any marvellous posts you make in my absence, as I dunno how far back I'll be up to going with my friends page when I get back online...

It's quite a sobering thought, in many ways - this is the last post I'll make not knowing how it all ends. This whole sense of excitement over future canon, the sensation that your thoughts and theories could be all blown out of the water, we will never feel that again.

Because tomorrow we will know.

Feckit

My bloody power cable to my laptop has gone all spoons. It's been temperamental for a while (teach me to leave it all over the floor and not put it away properly, right?), but it is taking a good ten minutes of jiggling to get it onto AC power. And then I daren't move in case it goes again and I have to resume jiggling.

I have a replacement on order from Dell, but the estimated delivery date for that is 24th. Which is Tuesday, dammit. I dunno if it's going to hold out that long - so if I vanish, it's because I have no power!

ETA:It's stopped working completely. It's currently at 85% charge, and I've wound down the brightness as much as I can to sustain battery life. I shall use it in emergency only. You know you have a problem when the thought of no LJ for the next four days makes you all itchy and fidgetty.

Arses

So, the plan was to do some RP-ing tonight, as everywhere else is dead and my bunnies are proving elusive. Got the browsers open for each of them (yes, I have one for each of my boys. Makes it easier to know who I am by whether I'm in Opera, Safari or Netscape...), and there were even folk about for them to interact with. All was going swimmingly.

And then LJ died on me. Cannot get the site to repsond AT ALL, never mind post comments. Which is mildly irritating, to say the least.

Anyone know of any problems? Or is it just me?

*gives up and gets back to rereading HBP*
